  • A fine line – a very small difference
e.g. sometimes there is a fine between legal and illegal activities
  • Fine art – painting, drawing or sculpture – creative and visual artistic creation
  • You’re a fine one to talk – this is said to a hypocrite who is trying to lecture someone else on something he himself does
  • That’s fine by me – no problem – go ahead – I agree – yes
  • To cut it fine – to make arrangements that leave very little time to spare
e.g. I don’t think we should visit the museum and then take the 1.00 o clock train
‘that will be cutting it fine’
