Hi everyone, I’m Steve and I come from Portsmouth, England, a nice sunny place by the sea and full of fresh air and soft sand. I’ve lived in Poland for twelve years, and I’ve found it to be a really interesting country with some fascinating people. I love Polish students as they are funny, articulate and always have something to say. They are never slow in giving their opinions. Prior to Wroclaw, I lived in Poznan and Kędzierzyn-Koźle. Wroclaw, however, is my home and I feel like I’ve found my place in life. I ended up in Poland completely by accident and before I became a teacher I spent nine years in the military, as well as working for the government in London, being involved in things a world away from teaching. Life is full of varied experiences. With regards to my teaching, I like to focus on pronunciation, phonetics and for students to try and speak as fluently as possible. I always correct mistakes as I find it’s so important and generally it’s what students demand from a teacher. In my spare time, I of course love football, but that’s only a small part of my life. I love the fresh air, and cycle in all weathers, even the Polish winter! I would love to see all of Poland and travel across Europe. I usually have some kind of book in my bag and occupy myself with translation when I’m not teaching. I’ve been trying to write a book for the last two years but have only got half way through it, so you’ll all just have to wait a little bit longer for my Pulitzer Prize-winning novel!
