Funny can mean two things on its own:

  • Funny meaning ‘zabawny’;
    e.g. ‘I saw a funny film, it made me laugh’.
  • Funny meaning strange
    e.g. ‘That’s funny, I left my wallet on the table a minute ago and it’s gone’.

Vocabulary:

  • Funny farm – mental institute
    e.g. He should go stay at the funny farm’.
  • Funny money – fake or counterfeit banknotes.
  • Funny business – illegal business activity.
  • Funny bone – the nerve next to your elbow that gives a strange tingly feeling when you accidentally hit it.
