Heaven is supposed to be a place you go when you die – if you have been good and is considered a perfect place, therefore many expressions with heaven have this idea central to the meaning, for example:
- A match made in heaven – a couple perfectly suited to each other.
- A slice of heaven – a wonderful place or experience on earth.
- Seventh heaven – a feeling of euphoria or intense happiness.
- Good heavens – O rety, o ludzie, korka wodna e.g. Good heavens, is that the time?!
- Heaven knows – who knows.
- The heavens have opened – when it starts to rain.
- For heavens sake – a light cuss said in frustration ‘For heavens sake just start the car and put your phone down’.
